Life story VIDEOTRIBUTE Stephen N. Bruner, age 56, of Louisville, Kentucky, formerly of Madison, entered his Heavenly Fathers Arms at 4:45 P.M. Saturday, February 26, 2005 at the Audubon Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. Born November 9, 1948 in Hamilton, Ohio, he was the son of Merle C. and Margaret H. (Hynes) Bruner. Mr. Bruner moved to Madison as a young boy, where he was raised and lived most of his life. He graduated from Shawe Memorial High School in 1966. Stephen was an Army veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, where he received the Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge, and 2 Bronze Stars. He was married to Carla Sindone on August 21, 1970. He and his wife moved to the Louisville area in 1986, where he retired as a housing inspector for the City of Louisville. He was a life member of the American Legion, Jefferson Post #9, Madison Elk's Lodge #524, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Jeffersonville. Mr. Bruner will be sadly missed by his wife, Carla (Sindone) Bruner of Louisville; daughter, Tara Elisabeth (Bruner) Bowley of New Albany, Indiana; son, Justin Hunter Bruner of Louisville, Kentucky; two sisters, Joanna Sizemore of Madison and Christina Abernathy and her husband Rick, of Sellersburg, Indiana; three brothers, Mark E. Bruner and his wife, Stella of Madison, John M. Bruner of Madison, and Lawrence A. Bruner of Madison; two grandchildren, Kristen and Matthew Bowley; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father on December 25, 2003; his mother on February 15, 2003; two brothers, Jeffrey P. Bruner on September 4, 2000 and Thomas Bruner on September 20, 1974. Father John Meyer and Father Richard Draper will conduct the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. on Wedneday, March 2, 2005 at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church, with burial to follow in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Friends and family may gather from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 1, 2005, and from 9 to 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday at the Lytle Funeral Chapel. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Disabled American Veterans. Contribution cards are available at the funeral home.
