Stephen Lloyd "Steve" Ferguson, age 77, of Madison, Indiana, and the son of the late Floyd V. and Helen Marie (Crider) Ferguson, was born on September 7, 1947, in Madison. Steve was a member of the last graduating class of Dupont High School in 1965 and then attended Indiana Technical Training to pursue a certification in automotive mechanics. He was a car mechanic for the next five years and then began doing construction for ten years. After moving to Indianapolis, he worked at Mayflower Moving for fifteen years, before relocating back to Madison and becoming a security guard at Arvin Sango, Inc. and Clifty Falls State Park. After retirement, Steve became a full-time songwriter, having produced countless songs through his company, Grab-A-Hoe Music LLC. He loved old cars including his very first car, a 1951 Chrysler and the brand new 1969 Camaro that was his pride and joy. He loved listening to the Cincinnati Reds and Indiana University Basketball games on the radio. Most recently, he enjoyed drinking coffee while discussing politics at the Red Roaster with many friends. Steve was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed living a simple life. Mr. Ferguson passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2025 at his residence in Madison. His life will be cherished by his brothers: Dennis Ferguson and his wife, Vera of Greenwood, Indiana, Brad Ferguson and his wife, Sheliah of Dupont, Indiana, and Jon Ferguson and his wife, Stacey of Plainfield, Indiana; and his nieces and nephews: Dane, David, Brenden, Joel, Alexander, Matthew, Timothy, Michael, Camille and Samuel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Samuel George Ferguson and Daniel Ferguson; and his sister, Susan Ferguson. Memorial services will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Sunday, February 2, 2025 at Lytle Welty Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel, 117 Holt Drive, Madison. Friends and family may gather from 2:00 PM until the time of the service on Sunday at the funeral home.
