Life story Steven Dale Baker, age 63, of Madison, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at Rolling Hills Healthcare Center in New Albany, Indiana. Born February 5, 1955 in Madison, he was the son of Harvey Edgar and Nellie Carol (Wheate) Baker. Mr. Baker was a 1973 graduate of Southwestern High School in Hanover, Indiana, attended Louisville Bible College, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology from the Artesia, New Mexico Bible Seminary. He formerly worked as an emergency medical technician, firefighter and paramedic in Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties, Florida, Green Thumb, Sirloin Stockade, Holt Monuments and Clifty Falls State Park, all of Madison, and more recently helped area farmers with hay, straw and tobacco. He attended various churches in Madison, volunteered as a bell ringer at Christmas for the Salvation Army, and worked with Hungry Hearts Food Pantry at Madison Assembly of God Church. He will be sadly missed by two sisters: Marcia Baker of Madison, and Gail Smith of Shelbyville, Indiana; an adopted sister, Patricia Vaughan of Madison; an adopted brother, Clarence Bean, Jr. of Madison; and a niece, Christina Erickson of Indianapolis, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents. The Reverend Bill Humeniuk will conduct memorial services at 1:00 PM Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1415 North Gate Road, Madison, with interment to follow. The Honor Guard of Major Samuel Woodfill Post #9, American Legion, Madison will conduct military honors.
