Life story Mr. Thomas C. Evans, age 61, of Milton, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison. He was born in North Vernon, Indiana on April 20, 1948. Mr. Evans graduated from high school in Indianapolis and then attended heavy equipment school and truck driving school. He served in the United States Marine Corp from March 1, 1967 until his discharge as a corporal on April 23, 1970. After he was discharged form the service, he drove over-the-road trucks for North American Van Lines and Anderson Trucking for several years. When Anderson Trucking closed, he operated his own rig for a while before going to work for Refrigerated Transport. In 1984 he went to work at the U.S. Army Jefferson Proving Ground in Madison as a motor vehicle operator until that facility was closed. Over the next several years, he drove for Teledyne, Inc., Thompson Dairy, and then retired from Kentucky Hauling after seven years there. He was baptized many years ago in a Baptist church in Austin, Indiana where he was a member, but attended the Milton United Methodist Church. He enjoyed watching movies, working on and flying remote control airplanes, and spending time with his family and his beloved canine companion, the family dog, Buffy. Tom loved life. He never complained, no matter how sick he would get. He never worried and he accepted things at face value. He was never into material possessions and never said a bad word about anybody. Tom never got mad or upset. He had a gentle spirit and soul like his mother, Elsie. Survivors include his wife, the former Karen Graves, to whom he was married on November 29, 1986 at the Milton United Methodist Church; his aunt, Ruth Trowbridge of Commiskey, Indiana; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Graves of Milton; two sisters-in-law: Susie Napier and her husband, Terry of Sevierville, Tennessee, and Linda Surratt and her husband, Lonnie of Milton; one brother-in-law, Larry Graves and his wife, Angela of Milton; nieces and nephews: Crystal and Tony Chandler, Missy Jamiel, Shannon and Jim Hoskins and Shane Surratt, all of Milton, and Annissa and Tim Kirchoff of Jasper, Georgia; and several great nieces and nephews, cousins and his dog, Cricket.
