Obituary

Life story Thomas F. Stinson, age 66, of Dupont, Indiana, formerly of Madison, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2014 at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison. He was born on September 23, 1947 in New Castle, Indiana, the son of Amos Paul Stinson and Charlie and Lillian Louise Tackett Johnson. Mr. Stinson retired in 2011 after twenty-two years as a correctional officer at the Madison Correctional Unity. Previously, he worked for Perfect Circle-DANA Corporation in Hagerstown. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Hagerstown, and rode motorcycles with Ferris and Rex. Survivors include his wife, the former Rita Smitha, to whom he was married in December 1999 in Madison; one son, Paul Stinson and his wife, Leah of New Castle; one step-daughter, Laura Curtis and her husband, Howard of Williamstown, Kentucky; four sisters: Kaye Markin and her companion, Joe of Hagerstown, Carol Moore and her husband, Vaughn of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Peggy Brockman and her companion, Rick of New Castle, and Charlene Johnson and her companion, Victor of Panama City Beach, Florida; seven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. The Honor Guard of American Legion Post #9, Madison will conduct funeral services in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, Madison, with interment to follow there. Calling hours will be private for the family.
