Life story Mr. William A. "Bill" Thompson, 90, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2005 at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison. Born November 27, 1914 in Osgood, Indiana, he was the son of the late Bertha (Stewart) Thompson. Mr. Thompson was a former route driver for Madison Distributing. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy after being discharged on November 24, 1945 as a Seaman First Class. He also was a former bar manager for American Legion, and former bartender for the Madison Elks Lodge. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Jefferson Post #9, Veteran of Foreign Wars Post #1969, and the former Eagles Lodge. He loved fishing and enjoyed blackberry and raspberry hunting. Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife of sixty four years, the former Janet N. Brinson, whom he married September 21, 1940; five daughters and sons-in-law: Carolyn and William Dean, Edna and Donald Case, Janice and Robert Eggers, Mary Alice "Mousey" Thompson and Steve, and Norma "Geanie" Thompson and Britton, all of Madison; three sons and daughters-in-law: John "Jack" and Twilia Thompson, Robert J. "Bobby Joe" and Wanda Thompson, and Larry W. and Mary K. Thompson, all of Madison; three sisters-in-law: Ramona Potter and Mary Lou Brinson, both of Madison, and Ann Brinson of Indianapolis, IN; a cousin, Bobby Leo Glenn of Florida; 28 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a son, Harvey Raymond Thompson at the age of three. The Reverend Robert Leach will conduct funeral services at 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 17, 2005 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at the Grandview Memorial Gardens. The Honor Guard of Jefferson Post #9, American Legion will conduct military graveside services.
