Life story William G. "Boe" Dean, 63, of Madison, Indiana passed away Sunday, July 24, 2011 at the VA Medical Center in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born Monday, October 13, 1947 in Madison, Indiana the son of Cozad and Florence B. (Means) Dean. Mr. Dean retired as a SFC E-7 in the United States Army and served during Vietnam. He was a recruiter for seven years. He worked for the United States Post Offices in Nashville, TN and in Madison, IN. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He loved fishing with his brothers, brothers-in-law, and son-in-law. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren. Survivors include his Wife, Carolyn (Thompson) Dean whom he married on Wednesday, July 18, 1973 in Gatlinburg, Tennessee; two daughters, Tina M. Giveden and her husband, Mike of Carrollton, KY and Gaylene D. Hedden of Madison; one son, Arthur D. Hedden of Madison; brothers, Ralph Dean of Madison and Donald Dean of Lexington, IN; sisters: Edna Boldery and Linda Wycoff, both of Lexington, Dixie Coghill of Scipio, IN, Barbara Ashby of Hanover, Joy Mitchell of Phoenix, AZ and Evelyn Ruth Tomosetto of Butler, PA; and five grandchildren: Michael, Justin, Monica, Kayvein, Diamonda. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Lillie Cole. The funeral services will be private for the family with burial to follow at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery. The Honor Guard of the American Legion, Jefferson Post #9 will conduct graveside services. The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the VA Medical Center in Louisville . Memorial envelopes are available at the funeral home.
