Obituary

Life story Mr. William Leland Kessler, 71, of Madison, passed away on Friday, August 5, 2005 at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison. Born January 7, 1934 in Jefferson County, Indiana, he was the son of the late William and Mildred (Hall) Kessler. Mr. Kessler served his country in the United States Navy. He formerly worked for the Indiana-Kentucky Electric Corporation, served as a conservation officer for the State of Indiana, a security officer with the King's Daughters' Hospital, and was a retired career fireman for the City of Columbus, Indiana. His memberships included the Christ Episcopal Church, the Madison Elks Club, and the National Muzzle-Loader Rifle Association. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman. Mr. Kessler is survived by his wife, the former Virginia Lawrence; one daughter, Nichola (Mahoney) Hall of Port Charlotte, Florida; two grandchildren: Denise (Hall) Crider of Mililani, Hawaii and Zane Hall of Shiloh, Illinois; one sister, Maryanna (Kessler) Hoagland of Madison; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted by the Reverend Ken Schomaker at 1:00 PM Monday, August 8, 2005 at the Christ Episcopal Church, with interment to follow in the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery. The Honor Guard of Jefferson Post #9, American Legion will conduct a flag presentation. Members of the Columbus Fire Department will present their colors at the cemetery in honor of his years of service. Friends and family may call from 2:00 to 6:00 PM Sunday, August 7, 2005 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel. The Kessler Family requests that memorial contributions be made to Our Little Roses Orphanage or the King's Daughters' Hospital Hospice. Cards are available at the funeral home.
