Life story Mr. William C. "Bill" Kleckner, age 67, of Hanover, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday morning, July 4, 2006 at his residence. He was born November 8, 1938 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of the late Robert S. and Ellen (Strom) Kleckner. Mr. Kleckner was a graduate of Portage, Indiana, High School, and attended Indiana University and Arizona State University. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1959, rose to the rank of Specialist 4, and was a paratrooper and medic in the 82nd Airborne Division. He retired in August, 1999 as foreman of the pickle line from Bethlehem Steel, Burns Harbor Plant in Chesterton, Indiana. He had served that company for 34 years. Following his retirement in 1999, he and his wife moved to Hanover. Mr. Kleckner was a member of the Chesterton Christian Church, Jefferson Post #9, American Legion in Madison, and enjoyed woodworking as a hobby. Survivors include his wife, the former Coraleene Julian, whom he married on June 20, 1990 in Ogden Dunes, Indiana; one son, Christopher S. Kleckner of Chicago, Illinois; one step-son, Larry J. Autry of Chesterton; three step-daughters: Barbara E. Julian of West Chester, Ohio, Michelle L. Orman and her husband, Gary, of Franklin, Indiana, and Kathleene S. Getz and her husband, Doug of West Chester, Ohio; one sister, Greta Handly of Orlando, Florida; and five grandchildren: Evan Kleckner, Hayden Getz, Logan Getz, Matthew Orman and Andrew Orman. Memorial services will be held in Chesterton at a later date. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Madison-Jefferson County Humane Society or the Hospice of King's Daughters' Hospital. Envelopes are available at the Lytle Funeral Chapel.
