Obituary

Life story Mr. William G. Strader, age 79, of Dupont, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2009 at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison. He was born July 28, 1929 in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of William B. and Bertha Kelley Strader. Mr. Strader was a graduate of the former Washington High School in Indianapolis and Purdue University with a degree in mechanical engineering. He served in the United States Army from 1951-1953 during the Korean Conflict, and was honorably discharged with the rank of staff sergeant. He worked as an industrial engineer for the Bridgeport Brass Company for thirty years, retiring in 1984. He moved to Dupont, Indiana in 1985. Survivors include his wife, the former Patsy Richmond, to whom he was married on July 29, 1989 in Dupont; two sons: Gary Strader and his wife, Janet, of Brownsburg, Indiana and Michael Strader and his wife, Estefana, of Louisville, Kentucky; three daughters: Deborah Brown and her husband, Ken, of Beaver Creek, Ohio, Major Jennifer Parham, U.S. Army and her husband, Joe, of Indianapolis, and Cindy Crawford and her husband, Mike, of Canton, North Carolina; two step-daughters: Ruth Nixon of Bedford, Kentucky and Belva Smith of Indianapolis, two step-sons: John Gosman of Milton, Kentucky and Jerry Gosman of Madison; one brother: Thomas Strader and his wife, Joyce of Roachdale, Indiana; two sisters: Mary Lou Pearson and her husband, Harold, of Indianapolis, and Kate Day of Ohio; twenty-four grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Wilma Thompson Strader; his second wife, Mary Lush Strader; one sister, Dollye Mahaney; and one grandson, Sgt. Morgan Strader. Funeral services will be conducted by the Reverend Jerry Knox at 4:00 PM Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at the Lytle Funeral Chapel. Committal services and interment will be conducted at 3:00 PM Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at the West Newton Cemetery, near Indianapolis, where the Mooresville, Indiana VFW and American Legion Honor Guard will conduct services. Friends and family may call at the Lytle Funeral Chapel from 3:00 to 4:00 PM Tuesday. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Home Health and Hospice of the King's Daughters' Hospital. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
