Betty A. (Haak) Guthrie

Life story Betty A. Guthrie, age 89, of Madison, Indiana, and the daughter of the late Charles and Virginia (Bott) Haak, was born April 12, 1930, in Madison. She was united in marriage to Kenneth W. "Jay" Guthrie on August 5, 1950. She was an assistant in the activity department at Madison State Hospital and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed taking care of her home. Mrs. Guthrie passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at the River Terrace Health Campus in Madison. Her life will be cherished by her daughter: Carolyn Andrews and her husband, Gene of Madison; her daughter-in-law, Patricia Guthrie of Madison; her grandchildren: Jillian Chest and her husband, Michael of Franklin, Indiana, and Anna Guthrie and her companion, Justin Turner of Seymour, Indiana; her great grandchildren: Brianna and Mia Chest, Bradley Turner, and was awaiting the arrival of another great granddaughter in May 2020; her brothers: Bobby Dixon and his wife, Ruthy of Madison, and Bill Dixon and his wife, Ruth of Bloomington, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth W. "Jay" Guthrie on February 18, 2009; her son, Kenneth W. "Kenny" Guthrie on July 27, 2019; and her sister, June Hays. Reverend Dennis Ingle will conduct graveside services at 2:30 PM on Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at Springdale Cemetery in downtown Madison, with interment to follow. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Contributions may be made at the Lytle Welty Funeral Homes or below.
