Carl P. Richards

Carl P. Richards, age 78, of Madison, Indiana, and the son of the late Charles and Elva (Robinson) Richards, was born on August 25, 1945, in Shelbyville, Indiana. On May 27, 1964, he was united in marriage to the former Anna Kelley in Madison, Indiana. He was a farmer for twelve years and then he went to work for Rexnord in Madison. He finished his career at the Jefferson County Highway Garage where he worked for 34 years. He was a member of the Madison Moose Lodge #765, and he enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding horses, and watching his grandkids ride horses. Mr. Richards passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023 at the Norton Women's and Children's Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.

His life will be cherished by his children: Maria Hedgepeth, of Madison, and Carl Richards and his wife, Delma of Madison; and his grandchildren: Larry Hedgepeth, Maykayla Richards, and Isabella Richards. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anna who passed away on December 20, 2010; his companion, Carol Scranton who passed away on February 8, 2022; and his siblings: Hattie Burton, Charlie Richards, Arthur Richards, and Edia Cherry.

Mr. Kenneth Surrett will conduct funeral services at 1:00 PM Friday October 20, 2023 at Lytle Welty Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Vail Chapel, on Madison's hilltop with interment to follow in Ryker's Ridge Cemetery in Madison. Friends and family may call at the Lytle Welty Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Vail Chapel from 11:00 AM until the time of the service on Friday.
