Carol Marie Coleman-Brown

Life story Carol Marie Coleman-Brown, age 80, of Madison, Indiana, and the daughter of the late Alton Parker and Gillie Marie (Griffin) Brown, was born on May 31, 1940, in Jacksonville, Florida. In the summer of 1954, her family moved to Madison from Winter Haven, Florida, and she graduated from Madison High School in 1958. She went on to attend Ball State University and Indiana University Southeast. Ms. Brown worked for the former Meyers Manufacturing Company from 1960 to 1989 and the former Reliance Electric Company from 1989 until she retired in 1992. However, she quickly decided she wasn't quite ready to quit working, so later that year, she went to work for the Dollar General Store on Clifty Drive until 2006. For the last several years, she has worked at the Circle K Shell gas station on the corner of Michigan Road and Clifty Drive. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Girl Scouts of America, Rainbow Girls, and her Florida High School tennis team. She helped start the Madison Girl's Club, and coached a girls' softball team. In her spare time, she enjoyed bowling, playing women's softball, and was an avid University of Louisville Cardinal fan. Ms. Brown passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at her residence in Madison. Her life will be cherished by her lifelong friends, Wilma Sullivan of Madison; John and Lenora Green of Madison and their family: Aaron and Karen Green, Pam Green Steven and Nikki Bertram, Jonathan Green and Matthew Green. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday December 23, 2020 at Lytle Welty Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel, on Madison's hilltop with interment to follow in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Madison. Friends and family may call at the Lytle Welty Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel from 1:00 PM until the time of the service on Wednesday. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Madison - Jefferson County Humane Society, the American Cancer Society, or the Madison Parks Department.
