Mr. Charles R. "Charlie" Conaway, age 68, of Hanover, Indiana, and the son of the late Charles E. and Mary Catherine (Stuart) Conaway, was born on January 12, 1952, in Jefferson County, Indiana. Charles attended Madison High School and lived in Madison, Indiana for most of his life until he later moved to Hanover. He worked for the Madison Police Station and Sandstone in Madison. He loved Dodge trucks, collecting keys, and riding in Mayor Al Huntington's Cadillac. He attended church at West Madison United Methodist Church. Mr. Conaway passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison.
He will be sadly missed by his sisters: Brenda Kelly, of Hanover, and Kim (Dock) Fields, of Seymour; his brothers: Steve Conaway, of Hanover, and Billy Conaway, of Madison; his aunt, Jean Ritchey of Madison; his nieces: Amy Augustin of Marysville, Indiana and Ginger (Jose) Hernandez of Hanover; his nephews: Jason (Kaytlin) Lock of Columbus, Indiana and Matthew Hernandez of Hanover; ande his great nephew: Jaxson Lock of Columbus. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents: Lauder and Christy Stuart and Jesse and Estella Conaway; his brothers: Rodger Stuart and Mike Conaway; his brother-in-law: Sam Kelly; and several aunts and uncles.
Reverend David Leland will conduct funeral services at 11:00 AM Friday, January 15, 2021 at Lytle Welty Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel, on Madison's hilltop with interment to follow in Fairmount Cemetery in Madison. Friends and family may call at the Lytle Welty Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, January 14, 2021, and from 10:00 AM until the time of the service on Friday.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to Shop with a Cop/Firefighter or the House of Hope Food Pantry. Contributions may be made at the Lytle Welty Funeral Home or below.
