Charles Davidson Obituary

Charles Richard "Charlie" Davidson, age 80, of Bedford, Kentucky, the son of the late Richard and Emma (Kendall) Davidson, was born on January 30, 1941, in Madison, Indiana. On January 30, 1958, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and proudly served his country until January 27, 1961, rising to the rank of a Corporal. After returning from the service, he graduated from Madison High School in 1961 and continued to serve in the Marine Reserves until January 29, 1964. On December 30, 1961, he was united in marriage to the former Mary Buchanan at North Madison Christian Church, and this union was blessed with three sons: Scott, Chuck, and Michael.

For nearly forty years, he worked at Indiana-Kentucky Electric Corporation as a laborer, in the coal yard, and as the Labor gang supervisor, until his retirement on March 1, 2001. He quickly returned to IKE as a security guard from September of 2002 until June of 2018. During his life, he attended First Baptist Church of Madison, North Madison Baptist Church, and North Madison Christian Church. He was a member of the Major Samuel Woodfill Post #9, American Legion, and was a great father, "Grampy" to his grandchildren, and a friend. Mr. Davidson passed away on Friday, December 31, 2021 at the King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison.

His life will be cherished by his sons: Scott Davidson and his wife, Laura of Madison, Chuck Davidson and his wife, Renee Volak of Madison, New Jersey, and Michael Davidson of Granger, Indiana; his brothers: Donald Davidson and his wife, Michelle of Madison and William "Bill" Davidson and his wife, Judy of Madison; his companion, Joan Phillips of Bedford; his grandchildren: Bryan (Kathleen), Kelsi, Brycen, Nicholas, Jack, Sophia, Lucy, Kelby, Brayden, and Sophia; his great grandchildren: Haylen, Gracelyn, and one on the way, Axel; his niece: Shannon (Todd); his nephew: Robert; and his great niece: Jenna (Brandon). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: James S. & Rebecca Kendall; his paternal grandparents: Robert Guy and Gertrude Davidson; and his nephew, Richard Davidson.

Pastor Bob Hicks will conduct funeral services at 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at Lytle Welty Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel, on Madison's hilltop with interment to follow in Springdale Cemetery in Madison. Friends and family may call at the Lytle Welty Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, January 4, 2022, and from 9:00 AM until the time of the service on Wednesday.

The Honor Guards of the Major Samuel Woodfill Post #9, American Legion and the United States Marine Corps will conduct military honors.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church of Madison. Contributions may be made at the Lytle Welty Funeral Home or below.
