Diane (Dunlap) Simpson, age 75, of Madison, Indiana, and the daughter of the late Buford and Stella Lorene "Tootsie" (Bray) Dunlap, was born on September 12, 1947, in La Grange, Kentucky. She was united in marriage to G. Robert "Bob" Little and this union was blessed with a daughter, Lori. Throughout the years, she worked at Conn Organ, Ora's Gift Shop in downtown Madison, and was the manager of Big Blue, where she worked for almost thirty years. On June 6, 1997, she was united in marriage to Michael "Mike" Simpson in Carrollton, Kentucky.
Diane was a devout follower of Christ and looked forward to attending church each Sunday. For many years, she was a member of the Cedar Creek Community Church near Osgood, Indiana, and had most recently attended Brooksburg Baptist Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed going fishing, cooking, shopping, taking care of her grand-dog Bella, doing puzzle books, watching the Game Show Network, and spending time with her family. Mrs. Simpson passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at her residence in Madison.
Her life will be cherished by her daughter: Lori Little and her companion, Rob Ciccarella of Vevay, Indiana; her sister: Sue Barnes, of Madison; her brother: Mark Dunlap, of Madison; her nieces and nephews: Kris Tidball, Shannon Shonkwiler, Brittany Barnes, Ryan Ward, Ross Ward, Damien Perry, Jarin Dunlap, and Jordan Dunlap; her step children: Dustin, Misti, and Eric; several step grandchildren; and many great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael "Mike" Simpson who passed away on December 14, 2015; her son, Jeffrey David Whittaker who passed away on April 11, 2001; her brother: Larry Wayne Dunlap; her sister: Pamela Lynn Harris; her brother-in-law: Lewis "Louie" Barnes; her sister-in-law: Marcia L. Dunlap; her nephew: Shawn Michael Andrew; and her beloved grand-dog: Bella.
Pastor Brye Welty and Pastor John Hart will conduct funeral services at 3:00 PM Saturday October 1, 2022 at Lytle Welty Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel, on Madison's hilltop with interment to follow in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Madison. Friends and family may call at the Lytle Welty Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel from 1:00 PM until the time of the service on Saturday.
