Donald Koontz Obituary

Donald E. Koontz, age 69, of Commiskey, Indiana, and the son of the late James E. and Margaret M. (Kidd) Koontz, was born on November 19, 1951, in Madison, Indiana. He graduated from Southwestern High School in 1970. He was united in marriage to the former Janet Jones on December 23, 1969 in Madison. He was an union carpenter and millwright for Union 310 and loved working for the Crosley Fish and Wildlife Area. He enjoyed hunting, painting art, wood crafting, and spending time with his family. Mr. Koontz passed away on November 18, 2021 at King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison.

His life will be cherished by his wife, Janet; his children: Jennifer Koontz of Commiskey, Catherine Koontz of Commiskey, and Donald Koontz of Jacksonville, Florida; his sisters: Deborah Jacobson, and her husband, Robert of Madison, Donna Lytle, of Madison, Carol Manning of Milton, Kentucky, and Marta Tingle of Madison; his brothers: Doug Koontz, and his wife, Carolyn of Madison, Duane Koontz, and his companion, Debbie of Hanover, and Mike Koontz, and his companion, Debbie of Hanover; his grandchildren: Stephanie Williams, James Leach, Tyler Koontz, Angel Koontz, Anna Koontz, Alexie Jones, and Andrea Scroggins; and his great grandchildren: Bailey Everhart, Bentley Everhart, James Leach, Jr., and Oliver. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Danny Koontz; and brother-in-law, Markt Lytle.

Private graveside services will be held at Bayless Cemetery with burial to follow.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Madison-Jefferson County Animal Shelter. Contributions may be made at Lytle Welty Funeral Home or below.
