Dorothy Cochran Obituary

Life story Mrs. Dorothy June Cochran, age 84, of North Charleston, South Carolina, formerly of Madison, Indiana and the daughter of the late Peter and Ruby (Perkins) Mires, was born April 3, 1936, in Madison, Indiana. She was united in marriage to George Cochran and was a registered nurse at the Madison State Hospital for twenty-seven years until her retirement. She was in the Custer Contest and received a Rotary scholarship that allowed her to go to Norton' school of nursing. Prior to her death, she was the longest living member of the First Christian Church of Madison. Mrs. Cochran passed away on Friday, August 14, 2020, at the Trident Medical Center in Charleston, South Carolina. Her life will be cherished by her children: Esther (Gary) Wolfe, of Charleston; her grandchildren: Justin Wolfe and Eric Wolfe; and a blessing of a great grandson, Ray Owen Wolfe who she adored. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, John Anderson in 1982; her second husband, George Cochran in 2005; her sister, Mary Waddell, her brothers: George Mires and Wilbur Mires; and her sister-in-law, Sarah Polk. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Wednesday, August 19, 2020, at Lytle Welty Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel, on Madison's hilltop with interment to follow in Lick Branch Cemetery in Deputy, Indiana. Friends and family may call at the Lytle Welty Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel from 11:00 AM until the time of service on Wednesday. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the House of Hope Food Pantry. Contributions may be made at the Lytle Welty Funeral Homes or below.
