Life story Doyle Gene Duff, 70, of Madison, Indiana, died Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at The Waters of Clifty Falls peacefully while holding both his daughters hands after his battle with lung cancer. He was born July 9, 1949 in Letcher County, KY to Fred and Agnes (Combs) Duff. He was raised in Hazard, KY and moved to Beaver Dam, KY as an adult where he worked and raised his two daughters. He worked as a coal miner for Green River and Peabody coal companies in Western Kentucky. He enjoyed watching UK basketball and taking his daughters on family vacations. He was a kind, free-spirited person. He was an avid story teller and loved to tell jokes. He never backed down from a challenge. He is survived by two daughters; Gina (Rob) Ashby of Leitchfield, KY and Shawna (David) Johnson of Madison, IN. He is also survived by four grandchildren; Rhianna, Allie, Luke and Clayton. He is survived by four brothers Lester Duff of Hazard, KY; Cooley Duff of Terrell, TX; Elvis Duff of Terrell, TX; Billy Dean (Sherlyn) of Terrell, TX. He is survived by two sisters. Hester James of Middletown, OH and Della Duff of Terrell, TX. He is proceeded in death by his mother who passed away in 1982 and his father who passed away in 1997 as well as two brothers and two sisters; Mike Duff, Lilli Bell Duff, Benny Duff, Betty Sue Duff. According to Doyle's wishes, services will be private. Doyle was a caring and giving person. He continued giving even after his death through the gift of his brain to the Harvard Brain Bank in hopes that he can aid the research of schizophrenia, which he suffered from most of his life.
