Dwight Inskeep Obituary

Dwight Steven Inskeep, age 71, of Madison, Indiana, and son of the late Frank and Claudia (Burton) Inskeep, was born November 29, 1954, in Madison. He was a 1972 graduate of Madison High School and later obtained his bachelor's degree from Ashford University in 2009. Throughout the years, Dwight worked at the Boys and Girls Club in Connersville, the City of Madison Water Department, Arvin Sango Inc., and Trimble County Schools as a substitute teacher. Most recently, he was in management at NIBCO in Charlestown, Indiana where he retired in 2019. On October 10, 2001, he was united in marriage to Windy Rodgers in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and they enjoyed almost 25 wonderful years together.

At the center of Dwight's life was his passion for coaching and mentoring the next generation. His coaching career spanned over 52 years at three local schools, Madison Consolidated High School, Shawe Memorial Jr./Sr. High School, and Trimble County High School. While he contributed to several boys basketball and girls softball teams, his greatest impact was in girls basketball, where he shaped not only skilled athletes but confident, resilient young women. His competitive nature and determination were matched by his kindness, patience, and understanding, making him an extraordinary mentor and role model. Generations of athletes benefited from his guidance, many carrying his lessons far beyond the court.

Dwight was a former member of the Knights of Columbus and attended First Baptist Church of Madison. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing and was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and Indiana University basketball. As a young adult, he enjoyed playing softball and would later umpire games at John Paul Park. While in college, he formed lasting friendships with a close group of friends who remained an important part of his life, gathering together several times a year-even as recently as a few weeks ago. While his influence reached far and wide, his most treasured legacy will always be the family he held so dear. Mr. Inskeep passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at his residence in Madison, with his loving family by his side.

His life will be cherished by his wife, Windy of Madison; his children: Bridgette Hopkins, and Sara Trythal (Billy); his grandchildren: Amaya, Chandler, Carson,  and Thomas; his sister: Beverly Inskeep-Bradford of Louisville, Kentucky; his brother: Neal “Toby” Inskeep (Crystal) of Union, Kentucky; his sisters-in-law: Debbie Rodgers, Mary Pike, and Marie "Tissit" Craig (Andy); his chosen sister Cindy Yokley; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as many close friends and countless former players who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his sister: Kim Inskeep; his parents Frank and Claudia Burton-Inskeep, and his eldest grandson Benjamin Welborn.
