Edgar Adams Obituary

Life story Edgar Lee Adams, age 92, of Madison, Indiana, passed away Monday, June 1st at 11:30AM at Nortons Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. Born December 12, 1927, in Louisville, he was the son of Harvey Lee and Hazel (Stone) Adams. Edgar grew up in Louisville, Kentucky. As a kid he spent a lot of his time in Oklahoma with the Indians riding horses, fishing and hunting. He delivered newspapers by horseback as a young man to the people living in the shantytown on the river. He worked with his dad, Harvey, on the railroad in Louisville while living on Rudd Avenue by the dike wall. There was always an adventure. He told many stories about the trials and tribulations during the 1937 flood. Edgar served in the army and was in Korea during the war. From there, it was to the Navel Ordinance on Lake Erie. There he became a charter boat captain while married to his first wife Zelda. They had five kids, Robert, Juanita K, Raymond, Ronald, and Jennifer. He was also a lifeguard at Toledo Beach in his spare time. Edgar then decided to buy a marina on the Ohio River, so off to Madison he came. He ran Adams Marina for over 50 years. During that time he married his second wife, Rosie, to whom he was with for 43 years until her passing in 2017. He also built many boats at the marina with his son, Robert. Their boats are still operating everywhere from the Gulf to the Great Lakes to the East Coast. They even had one in progress when his son Robert passed in 2019. He had built several houses in multiple states for himself and others over the years and enjoyed exercising, walking daily, and watching the river, boats, animals and birds. Edgar lived on the mighty Ohio River in the area of Brooksburg for 70 of his 92 years. He will be remembered as one of the greatest men we have ever known. Ed was quite a mentor to many over his lifetime-being the example to try new things in their lifes. He should be an inspiration to all during these trying times. He will be sadly miissed by his children, Juanita Kathy Humphrey, Madison, Raymond Adams, His Wife Pat, Milton, Ronald Adams, His Wife Sue, Milton, Jennifer Jackson, her husband John, Kent; his daughter-in-Law, Sallie Adams, Madison; his grandchildren: Robert Bryan Adams and his wife, Miranda, Madison, China Pittenger and her husband, Bill, Aurora, IN, Christen Adams and her husband Seth.
