Elizabeth "Ann" Owen, age 84, of Madison, Indiana, formerly of Lebanon, Indiana, and the daughter of the late John F. and Elizabeth (Thompson) Beeson, was born on September 27, 1939, in Indianapolis, Indiana. On April 12, 1964, she was united in marriage to Paul Ellsworth Owen in Speedway, Indiana and they were blessed with two children: Kathryn "Kit" and Paula. After getting married, Paul and Ann moved to Lebanon where they lived most of their lives. She worked at Resort Condominiums International for several years and was a Mary Kay consultant. Paul and Ann also ran a ceramics shop and an embroidery business out of their home where they specialized in embroidering In Memory patches for local motorcyclists.
Mrs. Owen was a charter member of the John Knox Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis, and was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Corinthians Chapter #456. In her spare time, she enjoyed needlework, crafting, ceramics, playing Solitare, and was a voracious reader, especially of mystery and fantasy novels. She knew the importance of calling someone by name and was always very witty with her words. Mrs. Owen passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2023 at the River Terrace Health Campus in Madison.
Her life will be cherished by her children: Kathryn "Kit" Swigart of Nashville, Tennessee and Paula Zimmerman and her husband, Larry of Madison; her grandchildren: Joe Zimmerman, Molly (Josh) Worley, Allison (Cody) Ford, Elizabeth (Kenny) Coe, Jami Williams, and Matthew Swigart; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul who passed away on August 17, 2017; and her son-in-law: Daryl Swigart.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at John Knox Presbyterian Church, 3000 North High School Road, Indianapolis, Indiana. Private inurnment will take place at Floral Park Cemetery in Indianapolis. Friends and family may gather at the John Knox Presbyterian Church from 11:00 AM until the time of the service on Thursday.
The Order of the Eastern Star, Corinthians Chapter #456 will conduct memorial services at 12:30 PM on Thursday at the John Knox Presbyterian Church.
