Forrest Byrd Moye, 95, was born on January 24, 1928 in Broad Hollow, near Pearisburg in Giles County, Virginia to Thomas and Dora (Levitt) Moye. He passed from this life on 18 October 2023 in Hanover, Indiana.
Forrest was a member of the West Madison Methodist Church and a jack of many trades. A professed "pipefitter," he installed fire protection systems in large factories and "power houses," which brought him to Madison where he helped build the Indiana-Kentucky Electric power plant in the mid-1950s. It was during construction of IKE when he met the love of his life, Helen Irene "Susie" Richter, where he settled down and raised three children, Patty, Johnny, and Terri. After retirement, he always kept a weed-free garden, canning and freezing much of what he'd eat the following winter.
Forrest was an active member of the Eagles Arie, American Legion and Moose clubs in Madison where he delivered many vegetables for those in need.
Forrest is preceded in death by his wife Susie, son Richard Glenn, and daughter Terri, and many friends. Surviving Forrest is his daughters Dora Sue Wheeler, Patricia Dianne Gaines, and sons William Byrd and Johnny J Moye. Danny Watson was also as close as a son for many years and will forever be "family." Also surviving are numerous grand, great grand, and great great grandchildren.
Forrest lived a very fruitful life and touched the lives of many people. Many of which we will never know as he never bragged on the good things he had done in life. He leaves a legacy of family and good deeds.
