Gary W. Guarino, age 78, of Madison, Indiana, and the son of the late John and Norma (Scheser) Guarino, was born on February 4, 1946, in Madison. He received his masters degree in social work from the University of Louisville. He retired from the Madison State Hospital as a social worker. He then returned to work for the City of Madison Street Department, where he retired in July.
Gary was a former member of the Madison Elks Lodge and Moose Lodge. He loved playing music and was in two bands, Hard Tellin' Bluegrass Band and Main Street Band. He continued playing weekly, throughout his life, with his friends. Mr. Guarino passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2024 at the Norton King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison.
His life will be cherished by his partner, Nancy Harper of Madison; his daughter: Angie Hertz and her husband, David of Madison; his brothers: John Guarino and his wife, Terri, of Madison, and Andy Guarino and his wife, Vaneta Becker of Evansville, Indiana; and his grandchildren: Katie Hertz and Jacob Hertz. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Kathleen Mary and his brother, Tommy Guarino.
