Mr. George R. Scott, age 86, of Madison, Indiana, and the son of the late William Leslie and Sarah Louise (Heath) Scott, was born on April 7, 1935, in Madison, Indiana. He graduated from Vevay High School in 1953 and was drafted into the Army in March of 1958. He rose to the rank of Specialist E4 and was in the Army Reserves for many years. He was united in marriage to the former Lila Lee Davis on October 5, 1957 at the Brooksburg Baptist Church. He was a farmer and worked at Dunlap Building Supply and retired from their affiliate, Southwest Forest Industries. Along with working for other building supply companies, he was a driver for Catch a Ride. He was a lifetime member of Save The Valley and served on the board of directors. He had been a member and officer of Milton Township Volunteer Fire Company. Mr. Scott passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at the River Terrace Health Campus in Madison.
His life will be cherished by his wife, Lila of 64 years of Madison; his children: Maria Louise (Lawrence Wallace) Scott, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Lauren Grace Tracy, of Louisville, Kentucky; his brother: Thomas (Linda) Scott, of Moorefield, Indiana; his grandsons: John Paul Davis, Heath Richard Davis, and Nicholas Scott Wallace; three great-grandchildren: Alexander Davis, Ayden Davis, and Melody Davis; two nephews, and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday October 18, 2021 at Lytle Welty Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel, on Madison's hilltop with interment to follow in Brooksburg Cemetery in Brooksburg, Indiana. Friends and family may call at the Lytle Welty Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday, October 17, 2021, and from 10:00 AM until the time of the service on Monday.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Jefferson County Animal Shelter. Contributions may be made at the Lytle Welty Funeral Home or below.
