Gregory S. Thacker

Life story Gregory S. Thacker, age 67, of Madison, Indiana, and the son of the late Calvin and Betty (Atkins) Thacker, was born on November 15, 1952, in Ohio. He enlisted in the United States Army on January 21, 1970 during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged on October 30, 1972. He was a teacher for many years and was a member of the Major Samuel Woodfill Post #9, American Legion. He was united in marriage to the former Mary Thurber on June 2, 2018 in Milton, Kentucky. He enjoyed going out and dancing with his wife and hanging out with his kids. Mr. Thacker passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison. His life will be cherished by his wife, Mary, of Madison; his children: Michelle Thacker of Wilmington, Ohio, Dennis Thacker of Mowrystown, Ohio, Robert Thacker of Goshen, Ohio, Seth Thacker of Mount Washington, Ohio, Jason Thacker of Asheville, North Carolina, Calvin Thacker of Louisville, Kentucky, Katie Sayles of Alexandria, Indiana, Aaron Starr of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Adam Starr of Madison; his sisters: Wendy Thacker De-Camp of Fayetteville, Ohio and Darleen Thacker Cain of Milford, Ohio; twenty grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Reverend Andrew Hoskins will conduct graveside services at 12:00 PM on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison.
