Jerry Donald Bower, age 74, of Hanover, Indiana, and the son of the late William Warren Bower and Dorothy (Adams) Bower-Brameier, was born on July 2, 1950, in New Albany, Indiana. On June 14, 1971, he was united in marriage to the former Paula Darlene Grigsby in Marianna, Florida, and they were blessed with two children: Angie and Chris. Throughout his life, he was more commonly known as "Jay" by members of his family and "Potsy" by his many friends and co-workers. Over the years, he worked at the United States Census Bureau, Butler Aviation, and Servend where he was a sheet metal fabricator. In his spare time, he loved to golf, fish, watch the hummingbirds, work in the vegetable garden, watch football and golf on television, and spend time with his family. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion and was always willing to help anyone in need. Like most grandpas, he went above and beyond to spoil his grandchildren. Mr. Bower passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2024 at his residence in Hanover.
His life will be cherished by his wife of 53 years, Paula Bower of Hanover; his children: Angie Bear and her husband, Tim of Madison, and Chris Bower and his wife, Malissa of Clarksville, Indiana; his sisters: Sherry Wilson, of Tampa, Florida, Kerry Begley, of Charlestown, Indiana, and Mary Ellen Bayens, of Jeffersonville, Indiana; his grandchildren: Connor Grossen and Nick Bower; his great-grandchildren: Kinsley and Bailee Bower; his sisters-in-law: Gwinda Bower of Jeffersonville, Brenda Cahall and her husband, Kim of Madison, Linda Kay McFadden and her husband, Wayne of Lexington, Indiana, and Deanne Grigsby of New Washington, Indiana; and his nieces and nephews: Michael Bower, Aaron Bower, Tabbatha Chesler, Lyndsey Kidd, Jackie Brosi, Jason Begley, Lauren Bayens, Kent Bayens, Stephanie Marion, Trevor McFadden, Brandi Mundt, Shane Cahall, Alan Grigsby, Ryan Grigsby, and Shanna Grigsby. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: Gary Bower and his step-father: Charles Brameier.
