Joann (Haak) Hoffman

Life story Joann Chick Hoffman, age 90, of Madison, Indiana, and daughter of Robert E. and Thelma (Cope) Haak, was born January 15, 1930, in Madison. On April 6, 1948, she was united in matrimony to Clem Hoffman and they enjoyed seventy years of marriage together. She was a devoted Catholic and member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church. She worked as a library assistant at the Madison Jefferson County Library.She was an avid bridge player, loved reading, and gardening-especially roses, golfing in her younger years, watching blue birds, knitting, raising herbs and traveling, having been to England and wintering in Texas. She also loved Facetiming with her great granddaughter. Mrs. Hoffman passed away on Friday, February 14, 2020 at her residence in Madison.Her life will be cherished by her daughters: Kathy Stivers of Louisville, Kentucky, Judy Gayle and her husband, Warren of Madison, and Sara Stockdale and her husband, Martin of Madison; her grandchildren, Melissa Sims and her husband, Brian of Louisville, Matthew Stockdale and his wife, Noelle of Madison, Zachary Stockdale and his wife, Tailor of Madison; her great granddaughter, Harper Elizabeth Stockdale. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter, Elizabeth, her son-in-law, Bernard Stivers, her brother, Robert Haak, and great-grandsons: Bentley and Mason Stockdale.Reverend Chris Craig will conduct The Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM Thursday February 20, 2020 at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in downtown Madison with interment to follow in the St. Patricks Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the Lytle Welty Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday and from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM on Thursday. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Steeple for the People Fund or the Madison-Jefferson County Public Library.
