Joseph Arthur Augustin

Joseph Arthur Augustin Jr, age 90, of Madison, Indiana, and the son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Massing) Augustin, was born on June 30, 1932, in Madison. He attended and graduated from Central High School. He joined the United States Army from 1953 - 1954 and rose to the rank of Corporal. He was united in marriage to the former Helen Mullikin on April 28, 1962 in Madison. He farmed and was a clerk at Reliance Electric until his retirement. He was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church and Clifty Swingers Square Dance Club. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. Mr. Augustin passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2022 at his home.

His life will be cherished by his children: Nancy Fitton of Madison, Linda Augustin of Madison, and Roy Augustin, of Madison; and his grandchildren: Nyctasia Fitton, Jesse Fitton, and Devin Augustin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Augustin; his sons: Charles Augustin, Paul Augustin, and James Augustin; and his sisters: Margaret Hemmer, Helen Schafer, Teresa Augustin, and Catherine Augustin.

Reverend Christopher Craig will conduct the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM Tuesday October 4, 2022 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with interment to follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Madison. Friends and family may call at the Lytle Welty Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, October 3, 2022, and from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM on Tuesday.

The rosary will be prayed at 7:30 PM Monday, October 3, 2022 at the funeral home.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to Friends of Shawe and Pope John Schools. Contributions may be made at the Lytle Welty Funeral Home or below.
