Juan Urieta, Jr., age 33, of Charlestown, Indiana, and the son of the late Juan Urieta, Sr. and Tammy (Chastain) Lopez, was born on March 28, 1991, in New Albany, Indiana. He lived with his mother throughout most of his life and attended Charlestown High School. He worked in apartment maintenance and in security for several University of Louisville games. The happiest moments of his life were the birth of his son and when he was around people he loved. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family especially his son and his nieces and nephews, watching football and documentaries, and Anime. Juan was of the Christian faith and was a very courageous, caring, and selfless man. Mr. Urieta passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2024 at his residence in Charlestown.
His life will be cherished by his son: Brayden Urieta; his father, Juan Urieta, Sr. of Madison, Indiana; his mother, Tammy Lopez of Charlestown; his sisters: Anna Chastain of New Albany, Indiana, Adriana Lopez of New Albany, and Lucia Lopez of Henryville, Indiana; his brother: Adam Urieta of Madison; and his nieces and nephews: Lanna Courtney, Lydia Courtney, Larry Courtney, Jr., Linkin Courtney, and Abel Urieta. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Carol Chastain, Victoria Perez, and Tony Urieta Chavez.
Pastor Scott Kollmann will conduct funeral services at 2:00 PM Thursday October 10, 2024 at Lytle Welty Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Vail Chapel, on Madison's hilltop with interment to follow in Fairmount Cemetery in Madison. Friends and family may visit at the Lytle Welty Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Vail Chapel from 12:00 PM until the time of the service on Thursday.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Juan Urieta, Jr. Memorial Fund. Contributions may be made at the Lytle Welty Funeral Home or below.
