Life story Lillian was a proud, lifelong resident of Madison. She was born to the late Phillipine (Wolf) and Stewart Douglass in November 1919. Lillian lived her formative years in downtown Madison at the Madison Country Club, where her mother managed the dining room and club activities.She left Madison to join her husband, the late, John Schoenstein, while he served as an Air Force bombardier instructor in Childress, Texas, during World War II. She returned to Madison and raised two daughters, Susan and Sharon. Lillian traveled in Europe and in the states, but always cherished her returns to home. Lillian was well known for her quick wit and engaging conversation. She enjoyed her family and friends throughout her life. She was an avid reader and a challenging bridge partner. Lillian was of the Methodist faith, past president of Tri Kappa, a member of The Historical Society, Historic Madison, Elks Club and Madison Country Club. She quietly supported many charities and was sometimes discovered when leaving a basket of food, clothing or money for a needy family. Lillian is survived by her daughter, Sharon Schoenstein of Port Orange, FL; two grandchildren, Dean ClaphamII and wife Yuri of Greenwood, IN, Stephanie Phillips of Portola Hills, CA.; two great grandchildren, Eric and Kyle Phillips; her nephew Bob Schoenstein and his wife Pam, and nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her daughter, Susan Wolf; grandsons, John Clapham and Brian Wolf; husband, C Eugene McCoskey; two brothers, Bobby and Forrie Douglass; and first husband, John Schoenstein.
