Ms. LuAnn Althoff, age 68, of Madison, Indiana, and the daughter of the late Marvey L. and Adaleen (Auxier) Elder, was born on January 22, 1954, in Madison. She was a 1972 graduate of Madison High School. For many years, she worked at Fountain of Flowers but had also worked at Grote Industries, Christy's Candles, and was the head cook at Cabana Joe's. In her spare time, she enjoyed fishing, walking, painting rocks, going to flea markets, and spending time with her family. Ms. Althoff passed away on Sunday, February 6, 2022 at the Norton King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison.
Her life will be cherished by her children: Cami Shafer and her husband, Matt of Madison, and Coti Knox and her husband, David J. of Madison; her sister: Linda Hawsey and her husband, Bob of Thonotosassa, Florida; her step-daughter: Jessica Turner of Vevay, Indiana; her step-mother: Joan Vogel of Madison; her half-sister: Vickie Burton of Madison; her grandchildren: Tanner, Rylee, Collin, Peyton, Gavyn, and Gypsy; her great granddaughter, Aubree; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John M. Elder.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, February 11, 2022 at Lytle Welty Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel, on Madison's hilltop with interment to follow in New Prospect Cemetery in Hanover, Indiana. Friends and family may visit at the Lytle Welty Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, February 10, 2022, and from 10:00 AM until the time of the service on Friday.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Winter Shelter for the Homeless at the Salvation Army of Madison. Contributions may be made at the Lytle Welty Funeral Home or below.
