Marilyn Lou Gosman-Dunlap-Droddy died Sunday, February 15, 2026 in the loving company of her children. She was 79.
Her journey began in Milton, Kentucky on March 27, 1946 as one of seven children born to Robert & Mary Edna Gosman. She entered this world along side her twin sister, Carolyn, who returned to her creator in infancy.
Marilyn worked at the former shoe factory and later at the Carrollton Inn. In the late 1980s she attained her GED and pursued her goal to become an EMT, serving the community of Madison, Indiana for several years. She later explored her creative talents by opening a flower shop in Bedford, Kentucky.
Marilyn traveled her path of almost 80 years with a gentle spirit, unwavering kindness, and a penchant for sweet treats. She met two life-loves along the way and raised courageous and beautiful children to whom she was devoted. Without doubt, the apples of her eye and source of purpose were her grandchildren and great children in whom she poured endless love, tender encouragement, and endless sweets.
Embracing Marilyn's memory are her children: Richey Dunlap of Milton, Kentucky, Dee Bromwell (Ed) of Taylorsville, Kentucky, and Cody Droddy (Lisa) of Carrollton, Kentucky, as well as her adoring grandchildren: Johnathon, Jana, Jessie, Taylor, Gracie, Juliann, Rachel, Tatum, Claire, Olivia, Tucker, and Everly; several great grandchildren, and her siblings: Denny, Bernie, and Ethel. She is predeceased by her loving son, Ronnie Dunlap, her brothers: Bobby and Goose, her sisters: Carolyn and Orena, and her parents.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 PM Thursday, February 19, 2026 at Lytle Welty Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel, 117 Holt Drive, Madison. Friends and family may visit from 4:00 PM until the time of the services on Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, Marilyn would encourage you to donate to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention - Kentucky Chapter at afps.org in honor of Ronnie Dunlap. Contributions can be made at Lytle Welty Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel or below.
