Obituary

Mark Steven Wilcocks, age 68, of Madison, Indiana, and the son of the late Charles and Roma (Cochran) Wilcocks, was born on January 31, 1956. Throughout his childhood, his family lived in several different countries, including Spain, depending on where his father was currently stationed in the military. After completing high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy and faithfully served his country as a communication specialist. Upon being honorably discharged, he began doing flooring for various companies throughout the years. Mark was of the Christian faith and loved boating on Lake Norman in Huntersville, North Carolina where he resided for almost 30 years. In his free time, he was an avid golfer who loved to travel and play on all the big courses. He also enjoyed going to the beach and listening to the waves, and going fishing. Mark was a true "Navy Brat" who loved to tell elaborate stories about his time in the military and his many golfing and fishing excursions, leaving his listeners to decide which stories were actually true. Mr. Wilcocks passed away on Monday, September 16, 2024 at his residence in Madison. His life will be cherished by his niece, Holly Haggerty and her husband, Zebulun of Milton, Kentucky; his step-son: Jason Barrett; his sister-in-law: Margaret Wilcocks; and several other nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Danny Wilcocks. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 26, 2024 at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 1415 North Gate Road, Madison. The United States Navy and the Major Samuel Woodfill Post #9, American Legion will provide military honors. Lytle Welty Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
