Michael Gossom Obituary

Michael Lee "Mike" Gossom, age 77, of Madison, Indiana, and the son of the late Clifford Lee and Mary Imogene (Gatewood) Gossom was born on March 2, 1947, in Madison, Indiana. On June 14, 1969, he was united in marriage to Jeanie Price and they were blessed with three children: Laura, Jonathan, and Sarah. Mike earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Eastern Kentucky University in 1969. His primary career was as a top salesman for Central School Supply and later School Specialty. He had a great knowledge of that industry and enjoyed a wonderful career. He was well-liked and respected by superintendents and principals in northern Kentucky and southern Indiana, creating many friendships along the way. He was a veteran, serving in the National Guard in Madison, Indiana during the Vietnam War era.

Mike was an avid sportsman. He cherished his years of playing basketball and baseball at Trimble County High School where he was a star guard and pitcher. After college, he took up tennis and won several regional tournaments. He loved fishing, spending many hours on Lake Barkley and Patoka Lake as well as making several trips to Strawberry Island, Canada, fishing with his dad and friends. Mike was a huge music fan and shared that passion with everyone around him. He loved country music, pop, southern gospel, and "oldies" music from the 1950's and 1960's. His favorite oldies band was a band from Cincinnati, Ohio, The Belairs Showband. He made a point of supporting them and attending their performances several times a year, taking family and friends along with him. His passion for music, the outdoors, good food, good times, and the joy he got from sharing those things with his family and friends, will be greatly missed. Mr. Gossom passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at his residence in Madison.

His life will be cherished by his children: Laura, Jonathan (Rebekah), and Sarah (David); his grandchildren: Lillie, Jack, Amelia, Carson, and Graham; his great grandchildren: Hudson and Hank; his siblings: Terry Gossom, James Gossom, Vickie Butler, Kenny Gossom, Cheryl Pettit, Eddy Gossom, and Donny Gossom; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Staples.
