Mildred C. (Luellen) Barker

Life story Mildred C. Barker, age 96, of Madison, Indiana, and the daughter of the late John and Myrtle (Mikesell) Luellen, was born March 12, 1924, in Bedford, Kentucky. In her younger years, she was a cook and waitress at the Central Hotel in Madison. She was united in marriage to Lloyd E. Barker. She was Head Housekeeper at Hanover College for many years and had worked at the Hanover Nursing Center for fifteen years prior to that. She was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church and enjoyed quilting, going to church and spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Barker passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2020 at the Baptist Health, Floyd Hospital in New Albany, Indiana. Her life will be cherished by several grandchildren: JoAnn Anderson, Jeff Jackson, Shelly Bradford and her husband, Tim, Mary Lou Graves and her husband, Robert, Jodi Anderson and her husband, Allen; great-grandchildren: Isaiah Anderson, Samantha Jackson, Leah Pennywitt, Noah Bell, Tyler Dukes, Rack Graves, Jesslyn Whitham, Jesslyn Whitham, Johnny Claypoole, Chelsea Claypoole, and Elizabeth Anderson; thirteen great-great grandchildren and three nieces. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; her sons, Wayne Bell and Richard Bell; her great great grandchildren, Andrew and Ansley Claypoole; her siblings, Karl Luellen, Oscar Luellen, Blanche New, Mae Carson, Claude Luellen, Claudis Luellen, Bessie Luellen, Mattie Leatherman, Hildred Luellen, Thomas Luellen, and Neoma Luellen. Private graveside services will be held at Springdale Cemetery in Madison, Indiana with interment to follow. The family requests memorial contributions be made to American Cancer Society.
