Pamela Harris Obituary

Pamela L. (Dunlap) Harris, age 60, of Madison, Indiana, and the daughter of the late Buford and Lorene "Tootsie" (Bray) Dunlap, was born on March 31, 1959, in Madison. She grew up in the heart of downtown Madison and was a 1977 graduate of Madison High School. Just three years later, she would be united in marriage to Roger Ward on July 26, 1980, at the Milton United Methodist Church in Milton, Kentucky. This union was blessed with two sons, Ryan and Ross Ward, who quickly became the center of their lives. Throughout their childhood, you would often find Pam on the sideline, cheering on her sons during their ball games. After calling Trimble County her home for nearly twenty years, she moved back to downtown Madison. On April 25, 2009, she was united in marriage to James E. "Jamie" Harris at the Chapel at Hanover College in Hanover, Indiana. While she had most recently been employed at Meese Incorporated, she had also worked at Mills Department Store, the U.S. Shoe Factory, Reliance Electric, Kawneer, the Madison Clinic, and LG&E.

All throughout her life, she was known for being a hardworking, independent woman with a giving heart. She was one of the most selfless people you could have had the pleasure of meeting. She enjoyed taking family vacations to the beach and listening to the sounds of the waves, gathering with family for cookouts and birthday celebrations, and taking advantage of every opportunity to spoil her grandchildren. In her free time, she enjoyed being crafty, watching HGTV and reality TV shows, and baking. Throughout their marriage, Jamie and Pam grew in their faith and often read Scripture and prayed together. In June of 2018, Pam accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at North Madison Christian Church. She passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2020, at King's Daughters' Hospital after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

Her life will be cherished by her husband, Jamie, of Madison; her sons: Ryan Ward of Madison and Ross Ward and his companion, Mariah, of Mount Washington, Kentucky; her step-son, Timothy Harris and his wife, Krystal of Dallas, Texas; her step-daughter, Rebecca Lee and her husband, Shannon, of De Kalb, Texas; her sisters: Diane Simpson and Sue Barnes, both of Madison; her brother, Mark Dunlap, of Madison; her grandchildren: Maci and Marlie; her step-grandchildren: Ayden, Addison, Blair, Ashlynn, and Silas; several nieces and nephews; her daughter by choice, Melissa Cole, and her good friend, Sharon Long. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Larry Wayne Dunlap; her brothers-in-law: Mike Simpson and Lewis "Louie" Barnes; her sister-in-law, Marcia Dunlap; and her nephews: Jeffrey David Whittaker and Shawn Michael Andrew.
