Phyllis Ann (Grey) Cook, age 74, of Hanover, Indiana, and the daughter of the late Emerson Grey and Donna (Sturgill) Combs, was born on April 27, 1949, in Whitesburg, Kentucky. On February 4, 1978, she was united in marriage to Clifford Randall Cook in Paoli, Indiana and they enjoyed 45 wonderful years together. She worked at Farbest Foods Inc. in Huntington, Indiana from 1985-1992 and also worked at K-Mart, Avon, and FAS Plastics. In her spare time, she enjoyed working in her flower garden, putting together puzzles, watching the University of Kentucky Wildcats, watching TV shows and movies, playing Yahtzee, and spending time with her family. Mrs. Cook passed away on Monday, September 18, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Her life will be cherished by her husband: Clifford, of Hanover; her children: Tess R. Sturgill and Cynthia A. (Jayson) Smith; her grandchildren: Kodi & Kori Breeding, Natasha (Seth) Melton, Justin (Katy) Brooks, Trey Sturgill, Brandon Smith, Troy Smith, Teanna Sturgill, Stephaine Watts, Tia Sturgill, Cameron Sturgill, Dakota Watts and Kyle Watts-Torres; twelve great grandchildren and two more expected to be born soon; and her siblings: Dan Sturgill, Armilda Hall, and Mary Jane Clark. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son: Jamie E. Sturgill; the parents who raised her: Maxline Sturgill and Arthur Sturgill; and her brothers and sisters: Vincent Sturgill, Margaret Sloan, Orville Sturgill, Barbara Bowman, Willie Sturgill, Steve Sturgill, Donald Sturgill, Joseph Sturgill, Kenny Sturgill, and Kathryn Hall.
Reverend JD Traylor will conduct funeral services at 1:00 PM Friday, September 22, 2023 at Hanover Baptist Church, with interment to follow in Hanover Cemetery in Hanover, Indiana. Friends and family may call at the Hanover Baptist Church from 11:00 AM until the time of the service on Friday.
