Mr. Robert E. Clapp, age 77, of Madison, Indiana, and the son of the late Roy E. and Visa (Egerton) Clapp, was born on February 20, 1943, in Madison, Indiana. He was united in marriage to the former Sarah Johnson and served in the United States Army as a Green Beret during the Vietnam Conflict. He worked security for the federal building in Louisville, Kentucky and later at King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison. He attended River Valley Community Church and was a proud supporter of military charities. In his spare time, he loved his horse, Playboy, worked with exotic animals, and had a pet tiger, "GT." Mr. Clapp passed away January 19, 2021 at Hosparus Health Inpatient Care in Louisville, KY.
His life will be cherished by his wife, Sarah of Madison; his cousins: Lena Perkinsson, Linberg Taylor (Barbara), Valinda McCarty, Joe Perkinson (Traci), Vicky Rand (Rick), Patti Mitchell (Jim), Terry Taylor (Kathy), Gary Taylor (Mary), Ronnie Taylor (Elyse), Debbie Simmons (Steve), Keith Colbert (Becky), Linnatta Dowling (Greg), Yeoman Taylor (Dee), Timmy Taylor (Michelle), Charles Egerton, and Donald Egerton; and many additional loving cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Pastor Shane Brunner will conduct memorial services at 1:00 PM Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Lytle Welty Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel, on Madison's hilltop with interment to follow in Moffett Cemetery in Milton, Kentucky. Friends and family may call at the Lytle Welty Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel from 12:00 PM until the time of the service on Tuesday.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warriors Project and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). Contributions may be made at the Lytle Welty Funeral Home or below.
