Life story Robert E. Lee, age 87, of Madison, Indiana, passed away on Friday, May 11, 2018 at his residence. Born February 18, 1931 in Bryantsburg, Indiana, he was the son of Earl and Dorothy (Holcraft) Lee. Mr. Lee was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served from March 2, 1948 to February 21, 1952 aboard the USS Roosevelt. He retired on January 2, 1987 from the former Jefferson Proving Ground as an ammunition testing supervisor after forty-two years of service. On July 3, 1980, he was united in marriage to Letitia Oney in New Marion, Indiana. Mr. Lee held a yard sale for ten to fifteen years at his home. He loved his cats, enjoyed talking with people, mowing grass and was good at fixing almost anything. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Letitia; one daughter, Tonya Starkey of Madison; three sons, Terry Lee and Danny Lee, both of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, and Michael Starkey of Madison; two grandchildren: Dillon Youngblood and Connie Jean Lee; three great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and very special neighbors, Steve, Peggy and Ethan McCarter. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Doris Hopper, and three brothers, Charles, Jackie and Richard Lee. Memorial services will be announced at a later date. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Madison Jefferson County Humane Society. Contributions may be made at any of the Lytle Funeral Homes & Cremation Service locations.
