Roger Beed Obituary

Life story Roger Lee Beed passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2020, at the Cheyenne Veterans' Hospital in Cheyenne, Wyoming, after a battle with cancer. Born August 27, 1948, in Norfolk, Nebraska, he had been a Wyoming resident since 2012. He was the son of Jack and Leona Beed who preceded him in death. Roger attended school in Tilden, Nebraska, and was a graduate of the class of 1966. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tilden. Enlisting in the United States Navy, just before graduation, Roger served three years on the USS Wilhoite, stationed out of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. He had two combat tours in Viet Nam. He was honorably discharged in June 1969. On February 25, 1968, in Neligh, Nebraska, Roger married his high school sweetheart, Diana Kay Hughes. They were blessed with four children, David Allen (Angela), Seymour, Indiana, Steven Grant (Christy), who passed away in 2016, Livingston, Tennessee, Leslie Catherine, Seymour, Indiana, and Kevin Lee (fianc, Robin), Seymour, Indiana. After his discharge, Roger had many jobs taking him from Nebraska to Missouri to Illinois to Kentucky to Indiana. His management position with Nickerson Farms is what brought the family to Indiana. After Nick's closed, he started Elkhorn K'9 Training Center. He trained many dogs, including narcotic detection, search and rescue and the best of law-enforcement K'9. Roger is survived by his wife of nearly 52 years, Diana, their children and spouses and grandchildren, Kanisha, Alexis, Kayden, Abigail, Keanna, Kaylee, Brady, Bryce, Jake, Shawn, great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Connie and Rick Otto, brother-in-law, Larry and Marie Hughes, sister-in-law, Rhonda Beed, sisters Jackie, Judy and Suzanne and several nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his son Steven, his parents, 'favorite' mother and father-in-law, Barbara and Dean Hughes, brother, Robert, sister-in-law, Judy Hughes and uncles, aunts and cousins. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday February 6, 2020 at Lytle Welty Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Vail Chapel, on Madison's hilltop with interment to follow in Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison, Indiana.
