Ruth Ann Horn, age.79, of Madison, Indiana, and the daughter of the late Vergis and Alice (Plough) Mobley, was born on January 9, 1947, in Sunman, Indiana. She graduated from the Brookville High School in Brookville, Indiana. On September 23, 1967, she was united in marriage to Robert Horn at the Penntown Church shortly after Robert had returned from serving overseas in the United States Army. This union of 54 years was blessed with four sons: Robert, Jeremy, Brian, and Jarid. For many years, Ruth worked as a quality inspector for Ohio Rod Products in Versailles, Indiana until her retirement. More recently, she served as the assistant manager for the Speedway in Madison.
Ruth was a God-fearing woman who loved attending church services and was a member of Manville Christian Church. In her spare time, she loved bingo, sewing, playing cards with her family, cooking, canning vegetables, and putting together puzzles. More than anything, she loved caring for and spending time with her grandchildren. Without a doubt, Ruth led her life with compassion and never met a stranger. Mrs. Horn passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at her residence in Madison.
Her life will be cherished by her sons: Robert Allen Horn of Granger, Indiana, Jeremy Ray Horn of Madison, Brian Jay Horn of Madison, and Jarid Anthony Horn of Columbus, Ohio; her brother: Jim Mobley of Rushville, Indiana; her sisters: Juanita Mobley of Sunman, Barbara Bennett and her husband, Mike of Eureka, California, and Sue Harpring of Batesville, Indiana; her sister-in-law: Rosie Mobley of Batesville; many grandchildren whom she adored, and other family members. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Horn who passed away on September 10, 2021; her sister: Norma Broughton; and her brothers: Lawrence Mobley and Wayne Mobley.
