Samuel Keith Tolle Nicholson, age 34, of Lexington, Indiana, and the son of Mark Allen Nicholson and Leanna Kay Tolle, was born on June 28, 1989, at the Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana. As a child, he was involved in the Boy Scouts with his mother who served as the Den Mother. Sam was a friend of all animals. In school, the kids called him "Sam, Sam, the Critter Man." He was always picking up animals. Upon graduating in 2008 from Scottsburg High School, he continued to work at LeRoy's Food Mart until 2010, when he became a clerk for the U.S. Census Bureau. After a short time, he began working at American Plastics in Scottsburg, and later at Mitchell Plastics where he formed some great friendships. For the last several years, he has worked for the United States Postal Service in Scottsburg and most recently, in Madison. His nickname has since changed to "Sam, Sam the Postman." No matter where he delivered the mail, he was loved by all the residents and their pets on his route.
He became a friend of all the people he met in his life. He never met a stranger and could converse on all subjects. In his spare time, he loved working on and collecting vintage motorcycles and four-wheelers, and posting videos on YouTube. He was very artistic and had a love for music, especially Nine Inch Nails in which he traveled all over the country with his mom to see live in concert. More than anything, he enjoyed spending time with his son. Sam passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at his residence in Lexington.
His life will be cherished by his son, Wyatt of Lexington; his heartbroken parents: Mark Nicholson and Leanna Tolle Nicholson of Nabb, Indiana; his sister: Michelle L. (Nicholson) Jacks of Columbus, Indiana; the mother of his son, Kira Reep of Scottsburg; his grandfather: Norman "Peanut" K. Tolle of Lexington; his aunt: Norma "Andi" Tolle Martin of Hanover; his nieces, and all the people who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Noble D. and Nettie E. (Collins) Nicholson, and his maternal grandmother, Daisy M. (Martin) Tolle).
A Celebration of Sam's life will be held this summer. More information will be announced soon.
