Theresa June Stewart, age 72, of Madison, Indiana, and the daughter of the late William Clifton and Louise (Howell) Lamm, was born on June 27, 1950, in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Being the daughter of a military service man, she experienced traveling all over the world even from a young age. She spent the first three years of her life in Germany before her family relocated back to the United States, making Arizona their new home. At the age of sixteen, her family would move to New Jersey where she would eventually meet her husband of 29 years, James Finlayson Stewart, III whom she was united in marriage to on November 24, 1972 in Ocean Grove, New Jersey. This union was blessed with four children: Margaret Ann, James Finlayson, James Martin, and Joseph William.
Early in life, she was a homemaker and took great pride in raising her children, while also selling Tupperware and doing photography. Later on, she worked as a supervisor at the Muscatatuck State Developmental Center where she retired after eighteen years. She was a longtime member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Madison. In her spare time, she enjoyed being with her family especially attending her grandchildren's extracurricular activities and serving in the church. After retiring, her life was centered around her family. Ms. Stewart passed away on Friday, October 14, 2022 at her residence in Madison.
Her life will be cherished by her children: Margaret Ann Stewart of Hanover, Indiana, James Finlayson Stewart, IV of Levittown, Pennsylvania, James Martin Stewart and his wife, Sherry of Acworth, Georgia, and Joseph William Stewart and his wife, Casey, of Madison; her sister: Gail Edwards and her husband, Thomas, of Sierra Vista, Arizona; her brother: Larry Pate and his wife, Debi, of Sierra Vista; her grandchildren: James Stewart V, James Jines, Amanda Stewart, Matthew Stewart, Jessica Delobel, Brianna Powell, Brady Stewart, Peyton Stewart, Elijah Stewart, Jason Cosby, and Kalvin Cosby; and fourteen great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Finalyson Stewart, III who passed away on August 14, 2001; her daughter-in-law, Betty Stewart; and her sisters: Bobi Irvin, Deborah Oliver, and Annette Mofelt and her husband, Donald Mofelt.
Memorial services will be conducted at 4:00 PM Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1113 Michigan Road, Madison. Friends and family may gather from 3:00 PM until the time of the service on Tuesday at the church. Inurnment will take place at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
