Thomas Monroe Rea of Deputy Indiana, passed peacefully on May 27, 2024. Born on September 22, 1942, in the family farmhouse, he was the son of Martha and Gerald Rea. Tom was a graduate of Deputy High School and Hanover College where he studied business. He served as a deacon and moderator at Lick Branch Baptist Church for over 40 years. He enjoyed the fellowship provided by the faith community, and serving the church in a variety of capacities. Raising his children in the church to follow in his footsteps was what he considered one of his greatest accomplishments. An ardent student of American history, the family's summer vacations centered on visiting museums, battlefields, and other significant historical sites. Tom was an employee of the Madison Courier for 17 years and the U.S Postal Service for many years.
He is survived by Gerald and Allison Ouellet-Rea, Alex and Rachel Rea-Munden, and his oldest daughter Alison Rea. Preceded in death by Robert Rea.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 7:30 PM Friday, May 31, 2024 at the Lick Branch Baptist Church, 10439 West Deputy Pike Road, Deputy, Indiana. Friends and family may gather from 7:00 PM until the time of the service. Private interment will take place in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
